President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the XVII Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia.

The agenda of the joint event was topical issues of the development of cross-border partnership and the development of new oil fields in the Caspian Sea. This was reported by the information portal of the President of Kazakhstan.

In his speech, speaking about cooperation in the field of oil production, the head of state recalled that the largest international oil transportation project, the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), has been operating for 25 years. Since the CPC was commissioned, more than 745 million tons of oil have been delivered to world consumers. Tokayev, pointing to the tasks associated with increasing the production of raw materials, stressed the importance of developing new fields, implementing joint projects and increasing the capacity of the oil pipeline.

The President noted that the subjects of Kazakhstan and Russia are developing world-class deltas such as Tengiz and Karachaganak. In Kazakhstan, work is underway on the Zhenis and Al-Farabi maritime projects with a net worth of $ 6.5 billion.

In this regard, Tokayev said that the joint development of one large Kalamaks-Sea-Khazar field will start very soon. Lukoil will act as a strategic partner from Russia. Investments in this project will amount to about $ 5 billion. The President noted that the most favorable conditions will be created for investors.
