Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan account for about 70% of all regional trade in Central Asia. The volume of bilateral trade for 10 months of 2021 amounted to $ 3.26 billion, which is 29.8% higher than the same period in 2020. This indicator is also 10.6% higher compared to 10 months of 2019.

The volume of exports from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan increased by 31.6% compared to 10 months of 2020 and amounted to $ 2.37 billion. Compared to the 10 months of 2019, the indicator increased by 34.3%.

The main driver of export growth was the products of agriculture and agroindustrial products (+17%), the oil refining sector (2.2 times), metallurgy (+99.3%), automotive (+28.3%). The task has been set to increase the volume of mutual trade to $5 billion in the short term and to $10 billion in the medium term. Work is underway to implement the project of creating an International Center for Industrial Cooperation "Central Asia" on the border of the two countries.

A high level of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan has been achieved in the transit and transport sector. Work is underway to implement major joint projects for the development of railway infrastructure: The Turkestan-Shymkent-Tashkent high-speed passenger highway and the Darbaza-Maktaaral-Jizzakh railway line, modernization of automobile checkpoints. A favorable tariff policy has been formed for the transportation of goods.
