New oil fields were discovered as a result of additional exploration activities in the Uzen field in the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan. Kazpravda.kz, referring to the press service of the company KazMunayGas, reported that as a result, the increase in recoverable oil reserves reached 39.9 million tons.

In 2017, a team of geologists from NC KazMunayGas JSC, Ozenmunaigas JSC, KMG Engineering LLP, and the KMG Engineering branch in Aktau launched an elaborate program for additional exploration of the Uzen site. Within the scope of this program, high-level seismic surveys (368 square kilometers) were carried out in 2017-2021, the entire well stock (more than 7500) was reinterpreted, the geological concept was revised and a geological 3D model was created.

The press service of KazMunayGas said, "As a result of the studies, the structure of the field became clear and new oil fields were discovered. As a result of the newly discovered fields, the oil reserves of the Uzen field increased by 8% and quantitatively reached 39.9 million tons of recoverable reserves. At the end of 2021, the corrected hydrocarbon amounts, Republic of Kazakhstan It was accepted on the balance sheet by the State Reserves Commission,” he said.

At the moment, it is also among the information that the field development project is arranged to take into account new reserves and plan to put them into production.
