According to the press service of the Accord, negotiations between Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan with the participation of members of official delegations took place at the residence of the President of Turkey.

The sides discussed the prospects for further development of the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Turkey. Much attention was paid to strengthening trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

The two leaders also exchanged views on topical issues of the international and regional agenda and cooperation within the framework of international organizations.

"Turkey is one of the five leading trade partners of Kazakhstan. The mutual trade turnover between our countries is growing every year. In 2021, it exceeded $5 billion. Without slowing down these rates, we must bring it to $ 10 billion. Turkey is also one of our 10 largest investors. Turkey has invested over $4 billion in the economy of Kazakhistan. Kazakhstan has invested more than $1 billion in the economy of Turkey. Over the past two years, 16 investment projects have been implemented in Kazakhstan. Our country has great potential for the development of such areas as the "green" economy, IT technologies, space activities, industrial production. I invite you to work together in these areas. We are ready to support all initiatives of Turkish investors and create favorable conditions for them. Tomorrow I will hold a meeting with the largest Turkish investors, where we will discuss ways to develop investment cooperation. Following the meeting, a number of commercial agreements worth $ 1 billion will be signed," Kassym–Jomart Tokayev said.

The Turkish leader announced his readiness to take relations between the two countries to a new level and expressed his support for reforms in Kazakhstan.

"We are bringing our cooperation to the level of an expanded strategic partnership. Turkey and Kazakhstan are two fraternal countries that have strong ties based on common history, language, religion and culture. The Turkish people attach great importance to peace and stability in Kazakhstan. Your enthusiasm and determination in the construction of a New Kazakhstan deserve great respect. I express my support for the large–scale reforms you are carrying out in the country," Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

During the negotiations, issues of implementing joint investment projects in the manufacturing and processing industries, construction and agro-industrial complex were discussed. They also discussed strengthening the transport and transit partnership and making fuller use of the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Along with this, attention was paid to cooperation in the field of digitalization, advanced technologies, tourism and education. A proposal was made to open branches of the largest technical universities of Turkey in Kazakhstan.

According to the heads of the two states, the results of the negotiations open up prospects for bringing the multifaceted relations between the two countries to the level of an expanded strategic partnership.

As a result of negotiations, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed a joint statement on expanded strategic partnership.
