Kazakhstan plans to send 1.5 million tons of oil through the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline in 2023, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas for Economics and Finance Dauren Karabayev said at a briefing, the correspondent of the Kapital.kz business information center reports.

"We are currently negotiating, because KazMunaiGas and Azerbaijan's SOCAR have signed a five–year agreement to transport 1.5 million tons of oil through the Baku (Azerbaijan)-Tbilisi (Georgia)–Ceyhan (Turkey) pipeline. It remains only to determine which of Kazakhstan's oil-producing companies will transport these volumes (1.5 million tons of oil) starting next year. We expect that the volumes will increase in the future. Since not only we, but also Azerbaijan is interested in this," Dauren Karabayev said at a briefing at KMG.

Earlier, the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov said that Kazakhstan will increase oil exports via alternative routes. In particular, it is planned to increase oil supplies through Azerbaijan to 6-6.5 million tons.
