On January 17, the Head of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the Executive Director of the Emirati company Masdar Mohammed Al-Ramahi. The parties discussed the implementation of a joint project in the field of energy. This was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press service of the presidential administration.

Tokayev stressed that Kazakhstan has set a goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, as well as to increase the percentage of renewable energy sources from 4 to 15% by 2030.

The Kazakh leader expressed confidence that the signed agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Energy of the country, the KIDF Fund and Masdar will be implemented in full. According to the bilateral document, it is planned to build a wind power plant with a capacity of 1 GW in the Turkestan and Zhambyl regions of the republic.

For his part, the Executive Director of the Emirati company thanked the President of Kazakhstan for the opportunity to meet and noted the high potential of the state in the field of green energy development. At the same time, he expressed interest in joint implementation of large-scale projects in this area.
