Kazakh national company KazMunayGas will start exporting its own oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline in February. This is reported by the Reuters news agency.

According to the information received, KazMunayGas will supply up to 120 thousand tons of oil per month through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.  An agreement has been signed with the Azerbaijan State Oil Company SOCAR for the export of up to 1.5 million tons of crude oil per year. In the future, it is planned to increase its volumes to 6-6.5 million tons per year.

KazMunaiGas also plans to increase oil exports through the Georgian port of Batumi. Last year, the company supplied about 21 thousand tons of oil per month through Batumi. Now it plans to export from 50 to 100 thousand tons of oil per month.

Earlier, Kazakh Energy Minister Aset Magauov said that by 2026 Kazakhstan plans to increase oil exports through Azerbaijan to 15 million tons. According to him, the plan provides for a phased increase in its volumes to 6.5 million tons by the end of this year.

Last year, Kazakhstan announced plans to diversify its oil exports several times. For that, it was established that oil export through the territory of Azerbaijan is a priority.
