President of Kazakhstan Kassymzhomart Tokayev has signed a law providing for the ratification of the agreement on international combined cargo transportation between the governments of the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States, ABC.AZ reports with reference to the press service of the President of Kazakhstan.

This agreement, signed in November 11, 2022 in Samarkand, is aimed at further developing transit and transport potential and economic and trade relations between the OTS member countries.

As part of the agreement, the volume of goods transported between the two countries by rail, water and road will be increased. The parties will cooperate and provide mutual assistance in facilitating the transportation of combined cargoes. For this purpose, a committee consisting of representatives of interested government agencies and organizations will be established.

As reported earlier in the Ministry of Transport, at the end of 2023, the volume of cargo transportation between Kazakhstan and the member states of the OTG amounted to about 35 million tons of cargo, which is 20% more than in 2022.

The adoption of the agreement creates prerequisites for further increase in the volume of transit cargo transportation through Kazakhstan.
