The Ministry of Transport and Roads of Kyrgyzstan reported that the International Development Association (IDA) will allocate $ 55 million for the implementation of the third phase of the Program for the Improvement of Regional Communications in Central Asia.

Half of these funds, that is, $ 27.5 million will be provided as a grant. This money will provide the rehabilitation of the Tupe-Kegen highway, adjacent to the tourist base in the Karkyra gorge, and the purchase of road maintenance equipment.

Another component of the project will be the enhancement of the capacity of the Civil Aviation Agency in the field of flight safety and the Kyrgyz Aviation College named after Ishenbai Abdraimov.

The project will create five tourist information service centers and will support the development of tourism statistics and geoparks.
