The amount of export of Tajik electricity last year amounted to about $ 77 million. As reported by "Avesta" in the country's Statistical Agency, this figure is $ 23.5 million or for 44.1% more than in 2017.

In the import section of official statistics there is no separate chapter on the volume of electricity exports, there is only indicatiin of the amount of its sales abroad. The main customers of Tajik electricity were Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.

Earlier it was reported that in the first nine months of last year, about 1.5 billion kW / h of Tajik electricity was exported to Uzbekistan alone.

According to the country's energy sector, in January-December 2018, the country produced 19 billion 708.3 million kW / h of electricity, which is for 8.8% more than in 2017.

About 18 billion 361 million kW / h of the country's generated electricity comes from hydro power plants. Over 1.3 billion kW / h is produced by thermal power plants.

Electricity production at hydroelectric stations had increased by 7.2% compared to the 2017 figures. The volume of electricity produced by CHP has increased by 37.4%.

According to the country's energy sector, the increase in electricity production in the current year was also facilitated by the launch of the first unit of the Rogun hydropower plant.Starting from the second half of November last year, this hydroelectric station produces about 2-2.5 million kW / h of electricity per day.
