Of the 7 million tourists who visited Kyrgyzstan in 2018, 3.28 million are citizens of Uzbekistan.
This was announced by Maksat Damir uulu, director of the tourism department at the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of Kyrgyzstan, at a press conference on April 24 at the Road Show in Tashkent. According to Maksat Damir uulu, the majority of Uzbek citizens travel annually to Kyrgyzstan at the end of May, since the launch of the Tashkent-Bishkek-Balykchi train and rest in Issyk-Kul. At a press conference in Bishkek on January 29 of this year, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan Komil Rashidov noted that 20% of tourists coming to Uzbekistan are from Kyrgyzstan. According to official data, in 2018, Uzbekistan was visited by 5 million 300 thousand tourists.
