Emil Osmonbetov, chairman of the Kyrgyz State Industry, Energy and Underground Minerals Committee, said that the Kumtor gold mine in Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan has 100 tons of gold ore in the session of Jogorku Kenesh.

A total of 384.3 tons of gold has been extracted since 1997, according to Osmonbetov’s statement for the parliament. Osmonbetov said: “To be precise, there are still 104.3 tons of gold ore still pending today. It is possible that we will find 23 tons more gold ore according to our estimates”.

According to Almaz Alimbekov, Chairman of the Board of Directors in Kyrgyzstan Open Joint Stock Companies, Kumtor gold mining business had extracted a total amount of US $ 9.5 billion since the day it started to extract gold, and US $ 3.7 billion of this amount was transferred to the Kyrgyz national budget. The Kumtor gold- mine will continue to extract gold until 2026.
