Representatives of the association "Legprom" and clothing companies of Kyrgyzstan got acquainted with the best practices in the textile and clothing industry of Turkey during a study trip to the cities of Istanbul and Bursa.

The trip was organized in order to establish a partnership with the trade support institutions of Turkey, as well as to visit an exhibition of textile and clothing products in the city of Bursa.

Sapar Asanov, the head of the Legprom Association, said that during the trip a number of meetings and negotiations were held with Turkish associations, chambers of industry and fabric manufacturers and certain results were achieved.

"We held talks with the organizers of the textile exhibition in Bursa, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and discussed possible cooperation. In Istanbul, we held talks with representatives of the Department of Industry. We had questions about professional development, as there is a need to introduce in-line production in the country, to train technologists to open a dyeing and textile factory in our country. We met with the Istanbul Exporters Association, established contacts with a number of companies that expressed readiness to export fabrics to our country. We visited the largest industrial zone Giyimkent, where fabrics from more than 400 manufacturers are presented. The Department of Industry, in turn, noted the interest and readiness to consider our proposals and visit Kyrgyzstan in 2022," Asanov said.

The head of the domestic sewing company Zuleika Minbayeva noted that the company has been cooperating with Turkish fabric manufacturers for about 5 years.

"The last trip was eventful and fruitful. It was an interesting experience and an exchange of useful information. The visit to Giyimkent was informative, we were convinced that Turkish manufacturers can offer a wide range of fabrics for any type of clothing, in different price categories. This trip gave a good idea of the future, to which we should strive and contribute to the possibility of the same active growth of textile and clothing production in Kyrgyzstan," she said.

The study tour was organized with the support of the Global Textile and Clothing Program implemented by the International Trade Center and funded by the Swiss Government.
