The President of Kyrgyzstan launched the start of construction of the Kambarata HPP-1 in Jalal-Abad region. This was reported by the press service of the head of state. Sadyr Zhaparov pressed a button on the control panel, after which an explosion occurred, symbolizing the start of a large-scale construction.

Now there is a prepared part of the infrastructure at the construction site of the station — bases, roads, quarries. Nearby there is a 500 kilovolt high-voltage line "Datka-Kemin". This will allow Kambarata HPP-1 to bear the lowest costs according to the power distribution scheme.

"Thanks to the construction of the Kambaratinskaya HPP-1, the issues of energy supply to the population of the republic in winter will be resolved. In the future, the growth of electricity consumption in the country will be satisfied and the export potential will be provided within the framework of the CASA-1000 project," the press service of the president noted.

Kambaratinskaya HPP-1 will be the largest energy facility of the entire Kambaratinskaya HPP cascade. The project provides for the construction of a stone-fill dam with a height of 256 meters and the station itself with an installed capacity of 1 thousand 860 megawatts. The average annual electricity generation at Kambaratinskaya HPP-1 will amount to 5.6 billion kilowatt-hours with the total volume of the reservoir of 5.4 billion cubic meters of water.

The construction period is from 8 to 10 years. Commissioning of the first hydroelectric power plant is planned in four years with the availability of permanent funding.
