The construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of 300 MW and an investment amount of $300 million has started in Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan. The solemn ceremony of laying the capsule for construction took place on June 21, the press service of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Kyrgyzstan reports.

Earlier it became known that the Kazakh engineering company Technogruppservice LLP, engaged in the implementation of projects in the field of renewable energy, will build a solar panel power plant and an appropriate infrastructure for generating electricity for the Kyrgyz company Bishkek Solar.

To implement the first stage of the project, which provides for the construction of a solar station with a capacity of 50 MW, funds are attracted from the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and the Kazakh company AIFC Green Finance Centre Ltd at the AIFC.

In his speech, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan Rapil Zhoshybaev noted that this project opens up new opportunities for Kazakh-Kyrgyz cooperation in the field of "green" energy and will allow the countries to jointly solve energy supply issues taking into account high environmental standards.

"The implementation of this project will give impetus to further attracting investments in green energy, efficient use of the solar and wind potential of our countries," Zhoshybaev added.
