Minister of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic Tilek Tekebaev made a working visit to Turkmenistan on December 1-3, 2022.
During the visit, the head of the Ministry of Transport of the Kyrgyz Republic held bilateral meetings with representatives of the state transport structures of Turkmenistan, during which issues of cooperation in cargo transportation by road were discussed.
Tilek Tekebaev met with Annadurdy Kosaev, chairman of the Turkmendenizderyayollary agency, the press service of the department reports. According to them, during the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of transport, outlined their intentions to strengthen work to increase the number of road freight transportation, including by creating new logistics supply chains of goods and transport corridors.
Thus, the Minister noted that the most active interaction between the countries is carried out in the field of road transport. "I would especially like to note the importance of launching an alternative multimodal route "Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan (port of Turkmenbashi) – Russian Federation (port of Astrakhan)," he said.
In conclusion, Kosaev added that Kyrgyz carriers can insure the ferry and transport their cargo. There are also warehouses for the storage of goods of customs transit with a storage period of up to 3 years, which can be used by Kyrgyz road carriers. In addition, Kyrgyz carriers can transport cargo by road to the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan border and there transfer it to containers by rail and take it to the port of Turkmenbashi, where there are all conditions for transshipment from railway transport," he explained.
