Masdar company from the United Arab Emirates will build a solar power plant with a capacity of 200 MW in Kyrgyzstan. The construction agreement was signed between the Emirati company and the Ministry of Energy, the press service of the ministry reported.

According to Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibrayev, on the basis of the signed contract, Masdar Company will conduct research for four months to find a construction site. Sites near the Toktogul reservoir, as well as in Issyk-Kul and Batken regions are being considered.

The construction of the station is planned to begin in June next year and put it into operation in 2025.

Masdar is financing the project – the company will invest $180 million in it. In the future, the capacity of the station is planned to be increased to 1 GW.

Masdar, also known as Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, is a UAE state-owned renewable energy company based in the capital of the Emirates, Abu Dhabi. Masdar is a subsidiary of Mubadala Development Company and was founded by the UAE government in 2006.
