On January 6, in Bishkek, the heads of the energy departments of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan agreed on the joint construction of hydroelectric power plants, reports Liter.kz .

The press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported that Minister of Energy Bolat Akchulakov, Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic Taalaybek Ibraev and Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov signed a Roadmap for the implementation of the project “Construction of the Kambarata HPP-1".

The parties agreed on the main conditions for the implementation of the construction project and outlined the upcoming steps for the timely commissioning of the power plant.

Kambarata HPP-1 is to become the largest power plant in Kyrgyzstan. It will provide electricity to the countries of Central Asia and stabilize the water supply of the region, the report says.

It is noted that Kazakhstan's participation in the project is carried out within the framework of the agreements reached during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Kyrgyzstan in May 2022.
