Kyrgyz Ambassador to Turkey Ruslan Kazakbaev met with the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey Ibrahim Yumakli on October 18, 2023. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the sectors of agriculture and forestry, as well as the export of agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan to Turkey and the exchange of experience in this sector. Kazakbaev suggested discussing the possibility of increasing exports of Kyrgyz agricultural products to Turkey by reducing customs tariffs on Kyrgyz honey and apricots, as well as removing the ban on imports of meat products.

The parties discussed the provision of bean seeds and elite varieties of wheat to Kyrgyz farmers and the organization of training centers for aquaculture development, as well as cooperation in organic agriculture, livestock breeding and the development of cooperatives. The ambassador and the minister also discussed plans to organize high-level visits. The Turkish side was given an invitation on the name of the Minister of Agriculture Dzhanybekov to visit Kyrgyzstan at a suitable time.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to organize an online meeting of the Working Groups of the Ministries of Agriculture of the two countries, as well as to discuss the possibility of Memorandum of Cooperation in the sector of veterinary security.
