Citizens of Kyrgyzstan will once again be able to receive treatment in Turkey free of charge. This issue was discussed during a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Zheenbek Kulubaev, and his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, Economist.kg reports.
This was announced at the VI meeting of the Joint Strategic Planning Group between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. The parties discussed the possibility of resuming the implementation of an agreement under which citizens of Kyrgyzstan can receive free medical treatment in healthcare institutions in Turkey, as stated in the press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.
It is worth noting that earlier in 2023, Kyrgyzstan's ambassador to Turkey, Ruslan Kazakbaev, proposed to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Yasin Ekrem Serim, to resume the agreement on providing quotas to Kyrgyzstan citizens for free treatment.
This program was in effect before the coronavirus pandemic and assisted up to 150 Kyrgyzstan citizens annually in receiving qualified treatment in Turkey, which they could not obtain in their home country. Typically, this involved severe illnesses such as oncology, organ transplants, and various specialized surgeries, including microsurgery.
