President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev made a proposal to introduce a tariff for rail transportation along the route of the ports of the Yellow Sea - Central Asia - Europe.

The Uzbek leader spoke today at a round table at the forum “One Belt, One Way” in Beijing.

"The issues of international and regional interconnectedness have always been and remain relevant for Central Asia, including our country, which does not have direct access to seaports" said Mirziyoyev. In addition, the president noted the relevance of the disclosure of the transit potential of the Central Asian region and the formation of the economic corridor China - Central Asia - Western Asia.

"Great prospects here open up with the launch of the auto-corridor Tashkent - Andijan - Osh - Irkeshtam - Kashgar. The Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan - China and Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul - Peshawar railway projects have a strategic importance. İt also seems economically feasible to establish a tariff for rail transportation along the route: the ports of the Yellow Sea - Central Asia - Europe" said the head of Uzbekistan. Shavkat Mirziyoyev also invited partners to participate in the activities of the multi-partner Trust Fund for the Aral Sea region under the auspices of the UN, noting that overcoming the adverse environmental consequences of the drying up of the Aral Sea is a common task.

The International Forum "One Belt - One Way" was first held in 2017. Its goal is to strengthen interstate cooperation mechanisms by developing land and sea routes. Today, 126 countries from Asia, Europe and Africa are participating in the project.

The President noted that Uzbekistan supported the initiative “One Belt - One Way” from the very beginning, the implementation of which is an important factor in the sustainable development of the countries of the region.
