At official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Japan, held meeting with President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Shinichi Kitaoku at the Akasaka residence in Tokyo on December 19.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Mirziyoyev expressed his satisfaction with JICA's activities in Uzbekistan in support of state reforms and programs and its assistance to Uzbekistan over the years.
The meeting drew special attention to support small and medium-sized investment projects, as well as to expand cooperation in the field of Education. Accordingly, a new cooperation agreement was signed between the parties in order to create a clearer roadmap for ensuring timely and high quality implementation of cooperation projects between Uzbekistan and JICA.
As a result, a new long-term co-operation programme in energy, industry, agricultural modernisation, infrastructure, environment, health and other areas, with a total investment of more than $ 3.5 billion, was agreed.
To date, the total investment of the projects implemented in the cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan has exceeded $ 4 billion.
