January-September 2021 foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan reached 491.4 million dollars. This figure is 22.1% higher than last year. The relevant news was cited in a statement issued by the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan on Wednesday.
According to the report, the trade turnover between neighboring countries in the same period of last year exceeded $382.8 million. With this figure, Turkmenistan has become one of the top ten trade partners of Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan imported $354.5 million worth of Turkmenistan products in the first nine months of this year. At the same time, the country's exports to Turkmenistan amounted to 136.9 million dollars.
Other major foreign trade partners of Uzbekistan are Russia (more than $5.1 billion), Kazakhstan (more than $2.8 billion), Turkey (more than $2.43 billion), Korea (more than $1.37 billion) Kyrgyzstan (approx. 682 billion dollars), Germany (more than 560 million dollars), Afghanistan (approximately 489 million dollars) and (451 million dollars) Ukraine.
Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, at its 16th meeting in Tashkent in September, stated that they are ready to increase the trade between the two countries to 1 billion dollars in the near future.
It is also among the information received that the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in 2020 is 527 million dollars.
