Uzbekistan plans to establish 10 solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of approximately 3,000 (MW) megawatts, with 3 billion dollars of foreign investment obtained between 2022 and 2024. The related news was reported by the President of Uzbekistan, Şevket Mirziyoyev, after the meeting held on 22 November.

President Mirziyoyev announced at the International Climate Summit in Glasgow that Uzbekistan has taken an initiative to reduce its share of greenhouse gases by 35% by 2030 compared to 2010.

Within the scope of this initiative, it was stated that steps will be taken to increase the total capacity of solar and wind power plants to 8,000 (MW) by 2026.

At the meeting, it was noted that the first solar power plant in Uzbekistan was put into service in the Navoi region in August. It has been announced that a similar station will be put into service in Samarkand next month.

5 more solar power plants with a total capacity of 900 megawatts will be completed in the regions of Khwarezm, Bukhara, Kashkadarya, Namangan and Fergana next year.
