According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, the first power unit of the gas piston thermal power plant with a capacity of 270 MW in the Bukhara region was commissioned on 31 December 2021.

Built by the Turkish company Aksa Energy, this thermal power plant is a first in the Bukhara region and was designed to generate 2.2 billion kWh of electricity per year.

The project will save 260 million cubic meters of natural gas per year, thanks to energy-saving equipment. According to the Ministry of Energy, it will provide electricity to 450 thousand houses (with the help of an additional 900 million kWh electricity).

Work continues to connect the station to Uzbekistan's unified energy system. It is also among the information that the connection to the network is planned to be completed in two or three days.
