As part of the visit of Turkey's president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on March 29, a ceremony of launching a modern thermal power plant in the Tashkent region, and the start of the construction project of a similar station in the Syrdarya region took place.

The projects are implemented by the Turkish company "Cengiz Enerji". Speaking at the ceremony, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, focusing on the significance of the projects, noted that these complexes have become a visual embodiment of Uzbek-Turkish cooperation in the economic sphere. It was emphasized that in the last year alone, together with Turkish companies, 5 major energy projects have been implemented that are in demand by the dynamically developing economy of Uzbekistan. In particular, the total capacity of these stations, including these projects, will reach 1.4 thousand megawatts. It was noted that due to the modernization of the energy sector of Uzbekistan, 20 projects worth $ 12 billion will be launched by 2026 on the basis of public-private partnership. These projects will provide an additional 71 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. 12 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year will be saved.

The Head of State thanked the engineers and builders who took part in the construction of the power plant. Then Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, pressing a symbolic button, launched a thermal power plant in the Kibray district and launched the construction of a thermal power plant in the Khavast district. The capacity of the thermal power plant built in the Kibray district of the Tashkent region is 240 megawatts. TPP, according to the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, uses modern combined-cycle gas plants (CCGT). The power plant will generate 2 billion kilowatt-hours of energy per year. After entering the TPP, the electricity produced by Cengiz Energy will be sold to the Operator of the National Electrical Networks of Uzbekistan, by agreement on the purchase of electricity for a period of 25 years.

The capacity of the new thermal power plant in the Khavast district of the Syrdarya region will be 220 megawatts, it will generate 1.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. The thermal power plant in Syrdarya is planned to be passed by the end of the year.
