The development of Turkmen-Uzbek relations was discussed during a meeting in Tashkent by the Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Batyr Atdaev.

Prospects for the implementation of the Program of trade and economic cooperation and the development of industrial cooperation for 2022-2025 between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, the development of cooperation in the field of investment were considered.

It was also noted during the meeting that the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 67% last year and reached $ 902 million, and this year this figure increased by another 9% – to $ 486 million in six months. Nevertheless, the interlocutors stressed the importance of further increasing the volume of mutual trade – up to $2 billion per year in the near future. In addition, the Uzbek Minister and the Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister discussed the possibility of holding the 17th meeting of the Uzbek-Turkmen Joint Commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation until the end of 2022.

The parties agreed to increase joint projects in the textile, pharmaceutical, construction and agricultural sectors, and also expressed interest in the joint production of passenger cars and agricultural machinery, the organization of joint production of household appliances in Turkmenistan, stimulating the transit of goods through the territories of the two countries and the organization of transportation along international transport corridors, involving seaports
