Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Uzbekistan Musa Jamanbayev met with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodzhayev.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and promising areas of Kyrgyz-Uzbek cooperation in the trade and economic sphere in the light of the upcoming state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kyrgyzstan.
They also exchanged views on planning a working visit to Kyrgyzstan in the very near future by an Uzbek delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodzhaev for the development of new promising joint investment projects of industrial cooperation. The parties also discussed the issues of holding the 11th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation and a business forum with the involvement of the heads of regions of the two countries in Bishkek this year, the activities of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund and the implementation of ongoing projects.
They highlighted topical issues related to the implementation of major joint projects in the field of hydropower, transport and logistics. Attention was also paid to the creation of agricultural clusters in the south of Kyrgyzstan, the export of dairy, meat and leather products, cattle and potatoes from Kyrgyzstan. The Ambassador proposed a number of initiatives, in particular the mutual opening of Trading houses in the capitals of the two countries with possible expansion in the regions. The Uzbek side expressed understanding and support on this issue. During the meeting, an agreement in principle was reached to continue the joint work of the working group with the participation of relevant departments for a comprehensive and substantive discussion of all issues of trade and economic cooperation, as well as the implementation of current and prospective projects.
Following the meeting Khodzhaev assured of full support and expressed readiness, represented by the Ministry, to cooperate fruitfully with the Embassy and make active efforts to continue working together to implement the agreements reached.
