Tashkent is hosting a business forum between entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev gave a speech during the forum.
According to him, in recent years, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan has grown more than 2 times, and by the end of 2022 it will approach $ 5 billion.
"We set the task of bringing the trade turnover to $10 billion, including through active import substitution. A joint foreign trade company will be created in future to achieve this goal," the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
About 1,200 enterprises with the participation of Kazakh capital operate in Uzbekistan. "This figure was almost 6 times less around five years ago. 130 joint ventures have been created in 9 months of this year," Khodjaev emphasized.
Jamshid Khodjaev announced the signing of roadmaps for cooperation between Tashkent and Turkestan, Navoi and Kyzylorda regions. The Minister invited Kazakh partners to joint cultivation of fruits and vegetables in Uzbekistan, and also proposed to implement joint projects for the cultivation of cattle, grain, oil seeds and fodder crops in Kazakhstan.
Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will adopt a separate road map with specific investment projects and trade contracts in the field of agriculture soon. An agreement is expected to be signed with Kazakhstan on the establishment of an international center for industrial cooperation on December 22.
"Car industry, electronics and electrical engineering, energy, pharmaceuticals, chemical and textile industries, production of building materials are just a few of the promising areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan," Jamshid Khodjaev concluded.
