On December 24, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjayev met with Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev as part of his working trip to Baku. The politicians discussed the current state and possibilities of expanding bilateral trade ties. This was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press service of the Ministries of Investment of Uzbekistan.

The parties expressed their mutual readiness to bring the volume of mutual trade to one billion dollars over the next 5 years, in connection with which they agreed on a number of specific practical measures.

Among the priority vectors of cooperation, the interlocutors called the strengthening of direct contacts between the regions of the two states. In this context, they agreed to hold a regular meeting of the Business Council and the first Forum of the Regions of the Republics in Tashkent at the beginning of next year with the organization of a "road show" of promising investment projects.

In addition, practical steps were considered for the development of industrial cooperation, in particular, the creation of joint sericulture, textile clusters, the implementation of common investment projects in the field of mechanical engineering, chemical, petrochemical and jewelry industries, energy, agriculture and other areas.
