Geographical communities of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Hungary signed an agreement on the establishment of the Geographical Council of Turkic States (GCTS). According to Kazinform, the signing of the relevant document took place on May 8 in Tashkent.

The headquarters of the organization will be located in the capital of Uzbekistan, and the representative of this republic Aibek Orynbayev was elected Secretary General of the council for a period of three years. It is noted that the main task of the GCTS is to strengthen cooperation between the Turkic-speaking countries in the following areas:

areas of innovation;

ecology;

tourism;

cultural and humanitarian areas.

"The main goal of the Council is to unite efforts to carry out joint actions in the field of geography, local history and related sciences, as well as the wide dissemination of scientific achievements in this field, the identification of nature conservation problems and active participation in their elimination," Oybek Norinbayev summed up.
