9th meeting of the Heads of Customs Administrations of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held on 11 December 2023 in Tashkent, with the participation of Heads of Customs Administrations of the Member States and high-level officials from Hungary.

During the meeting, the Parties discussed measures aimed at simplifying customs procedures, introducing digital tools in customs operations, sharing best practices, conducting capacity-building programs, and ensuring the uninterrupted operation of customs-border checkpoints to enhance the competitiveness and attractiveness of the Middle Corridor.

During his address, H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the OTS Secretary General, highlighted the current undertakings and future plans of the Organization. He also made several proposals on developing robust mechanisms for real-time information exchange among Customs Administrations, expanding electronic transit systems, and standardizing customs procedures.

Following the meeting, the Parties reached agreements on developing Technical Conditions for Information Exchange, drafting a Roadmap to extend the use of the “e-TIR” system for freight transport, and fostering collaboration among customs laboratories and target centers of Customs Administrations.
