Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On the final day of the business visit of the delegation of the Uzcharmsanoat association and its member enterprises to Türkiye, meetings and negotiations were held with leather and footwear enterprises and brands located in Izmir.
A delegation of Uzbek enterprises visited the Izmir Free Industrial Zone and held a meeting with the leadership of the regional directorate. The special opportunities in the industrial zone, the activities of enterprises and the experience of Izmir in locating projects in the industrial zone were studied.
At the meeting, the Association presented the Turkish side with information about the achievements of our country in the leather and footwear industry and its production, investment and export potential. Information was also given about customs and tax benefits and preferences, conditions created for investors implementing their projects in the leather and footwear industry.
In turn, the directorate of the Izmir Free Industrial Zone stated that it is ready to contribute to the expansion of cooperation between Turkish companies and our country, to introduce them to the capabilities of the leather industry of Uzbekistan.
Members of the delegation visited the Nevzat Onay enterprise and got acquainted with the production processes and products. An exchange of experience in the production of premium footwear and brand formation took place.
The prospects for bilateral cooperation in the production of artificial leather were discussed at meetings held at the EGE plant. Kashkadarya LLC Husain and the Turkish company Ikiler agreed to implement a new investment project worth US$1.8 million for sheepskin processing in Uzbekistan.
With the launch of the new project, raw materials obtained in the Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions will be completely processed at an enterprise equipped with Turkish technologies. It is also planned to start producing shoes and accessories from the resulting leather.
