President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has instructed the Ministry of Economy and Finances and the Ministry of Energy to ensure launch of 6 major solar power plants with the overall capacity of 2,700 MW in Tashkent, Kashkadarya, Bukhara, Namangan and Navoi regions by the end of 2024.

According to his decree, it is planned to attract foreign investors.

In addition, by April 1, 2024, Mirziyoyev instructed the ministries to:

- ensure the organization of the turnover of "green energy" certificates based on market principles;

- to approve the procedure for the implementation of projects on international trade in greenhouse gases.

From April 1, 2024, the ministries must introduce a modern system of monitoring, reporting and verification in the sector of climate change (MRV) and a database.

Tashkent is going to take all these measures to create favorable conditions for the transition to a "green economy" and increase the share of "green energy" sources in the country.
