10.26.2018. Tajikistan imported over 280.3 thousand tons of liquefied and about 10 million cubic meters of natural gas in the first nine months of this year.

According to the report “Monitoring and Early Warning in Tajikistan”, the volume of imports of liquefied gas in January-September 2018 is compared with the same period of 2017 increased by 18 thousand 287 tons.

More than 60% of the country's motor vehicles use liquefied gas as fuel. In September 2018, imports of liquefied gas amounted to 29 thousand 801 tons, which is 7 thousand 672 tons more than in September 2017.

The document also emphasizes that the supply of natural gas from Uzbekistan ceased in 2012, however, thanks to the agreements reached this year, Uzbekistan resumed the supply of natural gas to Tajikistan.

In addition, the volume of natural gas supplies from Uzbekistan starting from May until October 1, 2018 amounts to 9 million 952 thousand 703 cubic meters.  

The main consumer of imported natural gas is state unitary enterprise “Talco”.
