According to a statement from the Tajik Electricity Sector, electricity exports to Tajikistan's neighbor Afghanistan and Uzbekistan increased to $ 89.4 million in the January-September period. This figure revealed that Tajikistan's electricity exports to the two neighboring countries in question increased by 67.7 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to the statement, the total electricity production in the country in the January-September period of the year increased by 7.4 percent to 15.9 billion kilowatt-hours.

Tajik authorities announced that they have agreed to deliver a total of 3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to Afghanistan and Uzbekistan this year.

Tajikistan is temporarily suspending the export of electricity to neighboring countries from October due to a decrease in the amount of water in the rivers.

The electricity exports of Tajikistan, which sent 91.3 million dollars of electricity to neighboring countries in 2019, to Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, decreased by 58.3% last year due to the decrease in the water in its rivers and remained at the level of 53.3 million dollars.
