The Ambassador of Tajikistan to Turkey Ashrafjon Gulov held talks on February 1 with the President of the Department for the Development and Support of Small and Medium-sized Businesses of Turkey (KOSGEB) Hassan Basri Kurt, at which the creation of a joint investment fund was considered, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan reports.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current situation and further steps to implement the agreements reached at the 11th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Turkey on Economic Cooperation. In particular, the interlocutors discussed an agreement on the establishment of a joint investment fund to finance projects of small and medium-sized businesses of the two countries in Tajikistan, the Foreign Ministry said. It was noted that in Tajikistan, 2022-2026 has been declared the «Year of Industrial Development».

The parties agreed to develop an action Plan based on a Memorandum of Cooperation between the State Committee for Investment and State Property Management of the Republic of Tatarstan and KOSGEB, signed on the sidelines of the 11th meeting of the Tajik-Turkish intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. According to statistics, the bilateral trade turnover between Tajikistan and Turkey in 2021 amounted to $390.5 million. The two countries established diplomatic relations on January 29, 1992. Over 30 years, Tajikistan and Turkey have signed more than 70 bilateral agreements in various fields.
