Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, who attended the Foreign Ministers Meeting of the Central Asia-India Dialogue on January 15th of 2019 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, had a bilateral meeting with Uzbek counterpart Abdulaziz Kamilov.

At the meeting, Meredov and Kamilov reviewed the implementation of bilateral agreements. In this framework, efforts to develop mutually beneficial conditions for labor market producers, to improve cooperation and to develop transit corridors in the region were also reviewed. It was agreed to promote mutual trade, transport and logistics, to invest in key industries, to develop innovation and technology, and to enhance interaction in energy, information technology, medicine, agriculture, as well as science, culture, education and tourism.

As for the expansion of mutual economic ties, the trade volume increased by 53 percent in the 11 months of 2018 compared to the same period of 2017.

It was also decided to deepen cultural and human relations through the organization of joint events in Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
