The import of electricity from Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan has began on December 1,  Sputnik news  correspondents reports.

Uzbekistan National Power Networks Joint Stock Company of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan concluded an agreement with Turkmenenergo State Electric Energy Corporation of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan on the purchase of electricity in 2019-2020 winter periods. "Starting from December 1 of this year, in accordance with the joint Uzbek-Turkmen agreement, the supply of electricity from Turkmenistan has begun," the Uzbek network operator said in a Telegram channel.

The figures for energy imports in the early days of the winter season have already become known. So, on December 1, 14.9 million kWh of electricity was imported from Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan, and on December 2, 15.4 million kWh. According to the company, energy supplies are carried out in accordance with the schedule and volumes that were approved by the agreement. At the same time, the total supply volumes were not disclosed.

It is specified that the parties reached a final agreement only last week.
