According to the statement of Iranian Oil Minister Javad Oudji, Turkmenistan plans to start supplying gas to Azerbaijan via Iran from 2022.

Minister Jawad Ouji said that the gas supply volume that can be used to supply gas to the northern regions of the country during the cold season is 1.5-2 billion cubic meters per year.

Also, on November 28, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi attended the 15th Summit of the Organization for Economic Cooperation in Ashgabat. At the summit, an agreement on the trilateral gas exchange between Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkmenistan was signed. According to the agreement, gas supply will reportedly start on 25 December 2021.

According to the signed document, 1.2 billion to 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas will be transported annually to Azerbaijan via Iran and Turkmenistan. Proceeds from the deal will allow Iran to supply gas to its five provinces. The end date of the contract has not been determined.

At the same time, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov and President of Iran Ibrahim Raisi made a phone call on 13 December. It was noted that they expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation in the gas sector during the talks.
