Turkmenistan is ready to increase its natural gas exports to China through the construction of the fourth line of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov announced during the virtual summit to commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Central Asian countries on Tuesday.

The summit initiated by Chinese Leader Xi Jinping was also attended online by the heads of other states of the Central Asian region - President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Emphasizing the importance of fuel-energy sector in Central Asia-China ties, the Turkmen Leader named the commission in 2009 of the Turkmenistan-China strategic gas pipeline passing through Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan the flagship of this sector, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.

“I believe that we need to move forward, to expand and increase the energy partnership. In this regard, Turkmenistan is ready for a substantive discussion on increasing the volume of natural gas supplies to China through the construction of the fourth line of the pipeline,” President Berdimuhamedov said.

Thanking Turkmen President for his speech and proposals, Xi Jinping emphasized the great prospects for cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, given the joint plans to increase the volume of natural gas supplies to China by constructing the fourth branch of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, and expressed confidence in the successful continuation of effective cooperation in other economic sectors.

During the summit, the Chinese Leader vowed to increase China's trade with Central Asian countries to $70 billion by 2030.
