Sea voyages in the direction of Baku-Turkmenbashi-Baku will start operating from 2022. The sea corridor will operate as part of a project to increase transport links on the China-Europe route segment.

The operators of the vessels "Shair Sabir" and "Mahmud Rahimov" are JSC Turkmen Transport and Logistics Center and LLC ADY Container. They will transport containers in the direction of Baku-Turkmenbashi-Baku. Along with the number of ships, the number of weekly voyages will also double, depending on weather conditions, AZERTAC reports.

It is noted that the first vessel between these ports was launched in April 2019. To date, according to ADY Container LLC, 17,500 TEU containers have been transported along this route in both directions.

The project to activate and strengthen ship traffic between the Turkmen and Azerbaijani ports is being carried out with the support of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, CJSC Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) and CJSC Baku International Commercial Sea Port.

The implementation of the program is aimed at the development of the transport corridor "Asia-Pacific region-China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia Turkey-Europe".
