Transit cargo turnover through the international seaport of Turkmenbashi in January–December 2022 increased 2.5 times compared to the same period in 2021. The main products included food, petroleum and chemical products, building materials and metals, machinery and spare parts.

This was reported by the press service of the agency "Turkmendenizderyayollary". The increase in transit was facilitated by the systematic introduction of digital technologies and services in accordance with state programs to improve the activities of the Turkmenbashi international seaport and dialogue with interested international logistics companies in the region.

It should be recalled that recently the deputy chairman of the agency " Turkmendenizderyayollary" of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Seyitguly Bayseyidov visited Astrakhan to discuss the topic of establishing regular movement of cargo ships in the Caspian Sea. The interested parties agreed to work out the issue of creating a regular shipping line between the ports of Turkmenbashi and Olya for the development of a new intermodal route from Kyrgyzstan to Russia in transit through the territory of Uzbekistan.
