On Tuesday, April 4, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov held a meeting with Chairman of the Union of Chambers and Exchanges of Turkey Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu. According to the state news agency "Turkmenistan Today", during the meeting, representatives of the two states discussed the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Turkey and a possible increase in trade volumes.
The parties discussed the "Zero Waste" initiative, which was previously raised at the UN General Assembly session. An agreement has been reached on the further development of relations in the field of ecology. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the effectiveness of the dialogue in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
It was noted that the parties see potential in the development of bilateral relations in the fuel and energy, transport and communication, agricultural, food and textile industries, as well as in the field of high technologies.
Turkey and Turkmenistan also have joint programs in the food sector and pharmaceuticals. It was emphasized at the meeting that the rational use of land and water resources is of particular importance. Turkey and Turkmenistan exchanged experience in this field.
