Turkmenistan and Türkiye have discussed the reduction of visa fees for drivers as part of ongoing negotiations between the International Transporters' Association of Türkiye (UND) and the Turkmenistan Transport and Logistics Center (TULM).
According to the transportation Lojiyol news portal on Tuesday, this issue was addressed during a meeting between the General Director of Turkmenistan's Transport and Communications Agency, Mammetkhan Chakiyev, and a delegation from Türkiye's International Transporters' Association (UND) at the World Congress of the International Road Federation (IRF), which took place from October 15 to 18 in Türkiye.
The meeting, attended by high-level officials from both Turkmenistan and Türkiye, also included discussions on Turkmenistan's active participation in international freight transportation via the Middle Corridor, which connects China to Europe.
Chakiyev noted that by 2025, two new Ro-Pax vessels will be added to Turkmenistan's maritime fleet, enhancing cargo transportation capabilities across the Caspian Sea.
Additionally, agreements were reached during consultations on joint measures for customs processing, port visits to Turkmenbashi, and the introduction of electronic transit documents between Turkic states in 2024.
